On the
first day in Saline, no grass was
allowed to grow under the visitors' feet. A trip to the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing
started the tour. |
At the Capitol
grounds, the Welsh visitors were welcomed by Saline's two
outstanding State Representatives, Kathy Angerer and Pam Byrnes.
Representative Byrnes and her husband Kent Brown have previously
visited Brecon and in fact honeymooned there! |

No, this photo
does not need to be rotated. These Welsh photographers were lying on
their backs to get a shot of the Rotunda. |
Part of the
tour included the historic original Governor's office |
After the tour
- lunch in a train car at the historic depot in Lansing. |
A wonderful
lunch and sampling some Michigan wine at Tabor Hill |
and then some
time to walk it off at the dunes on Lake Michigan |
No . . Wait . .
You don't need to walk home! |
Many of the Welsh visitors witnessed American
style football at the largest stadium in the United States (capacity
111,000) when they attended the contest between the University of
Michigan and Central Michigan University. They saw Michigan beat
Central 41-17 and also saw the first ever weather-delayed game when
lightning halted play for an hour. |
A trip through
the tunnel and the group received some very special passes to allow
them to be on the field before the game |
Not many of the
visitors figured out all the rules but the Michigan Marching Band
was a big hit. |
