BOARD MEETING MARCH 27, 2013

Meeting called to order at 7:05 by D. Barnes.

 

SECRETARY’S REPORT: from February 27, 2013 Board Meeting. Approved as written P. Bunten, Second D. Cunkle. Passed.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Bill submitted by B. Westlake for the signs and postcards for Brecon Night.  Total amount: $62.29.  Moved by P. Bunten to reimburse Bruce for above.  Seconded by J. Low.  Passed

 

FAREWELL TO FRIENDS:  Bill Crim passed away on February 19, 2013.  Memorial Service planned for May 18, 2013.  Bill’s memory to be recognized by the SBFG on the Friendship Rock.

 

BRECON NIGHT 2013.  APRIL 26, 2013 AT AMERICAN LEGION

Paul Bunten was informed by Bruce Finkbeiner, American Legion of a $200 “rental fee” for use of the hall.  Paul unaware of this charge.  B. Finkbeiner agreed to “waive” the fee.  Further discussion for future events needed.

 

PERMITS FOR SIGNS -- Jim Roth to obtain from the city. Bruce to work with Craig Hoeft, Chief for Fire hall Sign.  The a-frame signs with be placed downtown.  D. Cunkle has the signs.

 

VASES AND TABLE FLOWERS --- Joan Roth to arrange.  Saline Flowerland requesting a 30 day notice for flowers.

 

CATERER – American Legion preparing the meal.

 

ENTERTAINMENT --- “Sugar Factory” a five piece jazz band is performing. D. Barnes arranged as she knows the drummer.  Exact time they will be performing TBD.

 

PUBLICITY --- J. Low to contact WAAM-Community Calendar, Saline Post, Saline Patch, Saline Life (new publication).  L. Crossey to notify SBFG Members.

 

Deadlines were missed for publication in Saline Area Senior Center Newsletter.  For future fund raisers Pam Ceo volunteered to obtain deadlines for current publications including: SASC, Pittsfield Seniors, Post, Patch, Saline Life, Reporter, Chamber of Commerce, and Station 1290 – Lucy Ann Lance.  This information will provide value for future publicity.

 

AUCTIONS – SILENT AND LIVE.  D. Cunkle and D. Barnes are approaching local merchants for donations at this time.  Lewis Jewelers will provide an item for the live auction.  The Ambassador’s Jewels will also be auctioned.. P. Bunten requests being notified ASAP of items for auction so he can prepare bid sheets.  Donation baskets accepted from SBFG members also.

 

MC for evening will be Paul Bunten.  He will ask Don Shelton to do live auction.

Jack Ceo was suggested to do prayer before dinner.

 

VOLUNTEERS - Set up 10 AM on April 26.  A minimum of 4 people needed to admit participants, etc.  and a minimum of 6 people to take cash/checks, etc. at end of the silent auction.  Other volunteers will be necessary throughout the evening. Notify Paul of availability.

 

SALINE VISIT TO BRECON 2013-SEPTEMBER 10-24, 2013.

No new information presented at this meeting.

 

Motion to adjourn meeting by P. Bunten. Seconded P. Ceo. Approved.  Adjourned at 8:00 PM.

 

NEXT BOARD MEETING --- Scheduled for Wednesday April 24, 2013 at 7 PM at the Primrose Kitchenette at Brecon Village.
